Easy Muscle Building Tips

The best way to attain the goal of toning up and increasing health is to have a training plan consisting of regular cardio and high repetition, low weight resistance training.  But the following muscle building tips will help you if your goal is to increase muscle mass

1.  Well performed sets using heavy weights are required to build muscle.  Using heavier weights trains your muscles more, so you should rest longer between sets – one to three minutes.

2.  Muscle preparation should consist of the same exercises you intend to do in your workout, but with less weight and fewer repetitions.  Only 5 – 6 reps are needed.  If you complete more than this, you will increase lactic acid or possibly get too fatigued.   Warm up does not mean stretch – stretching doesn’t prevent injury.  If you have a muscle you plan to work on and it is unusually tight, you can stretch to loosen that muscle – but stretches are otherwise not needed.

3.  Don’t overanalyze each movement you make.  Go to the gym, complete the workout as best you can and get stronger.  When you are done go home and don’t worry about that workout session any more – there is no need to stress out over what may have gone wrong at the gym.  You cannot perform to your potential if you are stressed.

4.  In any given week you should exercise both sides of a joint the same.  So throughout your training week if you do two sets of biceps exercises, also do two sets of triceps exercises.  All joint muscles you work should be worked this way.

5.  The most important tip is that you decide you are going to do whatever it takes to meet your goal of growing your muscles.  If you don’t have time during the day for a workout, then wake up extra early every day to fit the workout into the day.  Decide that you can take two to three hours out of your week to set aside for the hard work it takes to completely change your body.
